Our mission is to improve human health by unlocking the power of the genome. The illumina corporate foundation granted genspace in-kind product donations and a cash grant totalling over $100,000 to build capacity for authentic genomics research and project-based learning for New York City youth. The award came in the form of a MiniSeq DNA Sequencing System, BaseSpace Sequencing Hub Credits, service contract agreements, library preparation kits and sequencing reagents. With this investment, Illumina and Genspace provided students from historically excluded backgrounds with hands-on genomics experiences based on their interests.

“Genomics is the single most important innovation of our time. Providing exposure to the tools that are enabling the next generation of researchers and clinicians will usher in the future of personalized medicine,” said John Frank, Chief Public Affairs Officer and Illumina Corporate Foundation Board member. “We know that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not. We aim to eliminate barriers by supporting STEM education and accelerating access to genomics for all.” Past Genspace interns have investigated questions about the skin microbiome, environmental biofilms, and the plant rhizosphere. With the support of Illumina and the Illumina Corporate Foundation, these students use metagenomics and transcriptomics techniques to elevate their research questions and make novel discoveries in environmental and human health.

Our mission is to advance innovative therapies in retinal diseases. The support from Iveric Bio played a crucial role in supporting Genspace to meet our mission by supporting the expansion of our lab, classroom, and office facilities to enable more learners to participate in Genspace programs.

Our mission is to liberate hair expression. Together, Genspace and K18 envision a future where science is accessible to all, where innovation drives sustainability, and where education empowers the community to use the life sciences to explore questions and develop applications that are connected to their lives and rooted in their identities. The Future Now Initiative by K18 Hair represents their commitment to innovation and radical care. Genspace's inclusion in this initiative highlights the organization's vital role in advancing the accessibility and understanding of life sciences education.

K18 future now initiative supports Genspace since they have the same goals of investing back into communities that they care about in different ways. For Genspace, they invest in the community by allowing people to learn and grow about the life sciences. For K18, they celebrate hair health and support hair stylists.
